Conversations on Architecture and Land in and out of the Americas: Land From Water
Переглядів 2643 місяці тому
Inca rulers and Italian Renaissance political thinkers shared a peculiar commonality: they thought of land as an infrastructure that could be shaped to direct the flows of water and wealth. Stella Nair and Caroline Murphy, historians of the early-modern period, will present research about land management techniques drawn from the long history of infrastructure in two globally distant 16th-centu...

RIP legend
the marks of old and MOULD...
This lecture is a hidden gem. I'm glad I found this.
very true, I like your comments 🙌👌
2:30 definitely anticipated a fat joke there
Brilliant mind and ahead of times, had the chance of listening live to a lecture he gave in Los Angeles in 1987
23:19 is this true?
Applied art major holding court pretending to be complex for the zombies
53:49 time line on this video. A graph is shown. This graph is a total lie! The source they show on the graph. Denies ever creating it. What ever she ( Helen) claims never happened or can happen. Time has proven her lies!
Increíble que solo tenga dos comentarios; Un referente mundial y atemporal de la arquitectura.
In my view .. Laurinda Hope Spear is the Andrée Putman of America - a design icon . She is the very best !.
PI was a $36M concentration camp for black people and another waste of Govt money. Consider that for $36M they could have just built of bought the same 2700 families a new house. But instead the bureaucrats and architects want to build a monument to their own egos.
I worked for Harold Bell in his real estate company 35 years ago. He was brilliant. Sorry to hear of his passing. Amazing he was still so active in his late age. May he rest in eternal heavenly peace 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Laurinda Spear .. she is phenomenal !.
Its all to do with PHI and Zero time MBraithwaite Yorkshire Viking
Most people don't realize that these concrete boxes had no air conditioning, no fans and no balconies. It was a horrible, hot, dark place to live during most of the year. It did have institutional heat which was hard to control for each unit.
Yes she designed the Vagina stadium like, in QATAR! amazing
Now that's one great thumbnail She is great

Peter Eisenman has some great insights you will not find anywhere else! What a character
this is how ridiculous academy has become. I had a dinner with mark years ago. he talked non stop for an hour. 🤢🤮
I've been listening to his interviews recently and I came away with the same impression. I have some very strong thoughts that I shouldn't even share, other than to say that much of his musings show the marks of high verbal intelligence but not much commitment to the truth.
@@maxwellstarcevich that is why Kenneth Frampton cannot stand him.😂
@@maxwellstarcevich mark is Robin Williams in architecture. Derrida is originally very destructive. and mark writes about Derrida. also, mark knows nothing about the design aspects of architecture.
@@dannysze8183 Interesting, thanks. I'm staunchly against most decon ideology, but I still like to listen to them now and then to hear what they are saying. Modern sophists in my opinion.
@@maxwellstarcevich Colin Rowe said the contemporary architecture scene is so depressing to a point that he wrote his last book on renaissance. mark said Colin Rowe is a drunk man. mark wife Beatrice colomina is more valid than mark but she married to a narcissist. 🤣🤣
Okay. I love this book, and have been recommending it for years, but I burst out laughing when I heard where he was living. He lived a block from my college boyfriend in one of the ritziest neighborhoods in the city. David, there's a very big difference between 700 sqft at 69th & 2nd at that time (or even now) and 700 sqft most places in Manhattan. I mean come on. You had quiet, you maybe had a doorman, you had the park very close, you had major taxi availability, you had a d'Agostino's right nearby, this is not comparable to most Manhattan living.
Liked the presentation. We have rich tradition of design. Even bricks are high energy embodied materials. Shall we abandoned the Red Brick building material too? I disagree with Anupama with use of steel and cement. How do we solve the problems? Can we solve million hosuing for all by using bamboo, thatch, and mud walls. These applications have limited scalability. We need more better ideas and certainly advancing, affordable and acceptable one. And people do not have time to form there own settlement on own. What if We do not act now as a designer, .. agree to no over engineering, but the optimal design is required to house the millions...
I'm ashamed that I have not heard of her before. She is a true architect in every sense of the word and will be soon of the world great masters.
Zaha Hadid, she, both evolved and revolutionised, concepts and meaning of space and Architecture. Put into practice motions of emotions. I salute her. mimi
With all due respect, Mr. Eisenman, heterogenous is not the same as heterogeneous, nor is homogenous the same as homogeneous. Great conversation!
500 RADS on the Californian coast from Fukushima. Great b8, lady.
Thanks great architecture
Thank you so much Professor Wu!

Is it a stand up comedy 😂. She is soo funny 🤣
This video needs to be copied everywhere and repeated ad nauseum until people are fed up hearing it. The truth hurts, but it's the truth. Humans are an urban species.
Noah Shachtman is a nasty hypocrite clown.
This is just superb, I have been researching "mba in real estate development" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Yiyrianna Tonwen Theorem - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my mate got cool success with it.
"least boring" bruh moment
Royal 👑 intelligence
So thankful that I got to sit in that room that day and watch this presentation upfront. Zaha had a huge personality and very blunt and politically carefree... I appreciated it ...RIP
Muito linda parabéns admiroseu trabalho..
How ironic that a video on workflow starts with someone saying, "We always start 10 or 15 minutes late here, so this is not unusual."
